Spacers are often used between the blades and the spindle assembly to achieve the desired blade height and ensure even cutting across the mowing width. And similarly, the Center Sheave is held into place by the use of an Equipment Nut (8). The Idler Flat Pulley is held into place with the help of a 10 millimeter Lock Nut (2) with a 1.5mm thread pitch. The pulleys used in the John Deere 54 inch mower belt are Idler Flat Pulleys (3) and a Center Sheave Pulley (9). The idler pulleys are located in several locations on the deck. They ensure that the belt remains securely fastened. The John Deere 54 inch mower’s belt tension is maintained by idler flat pulleys. It encircles these pulleys and moves accordingly. The belt is situated on the top of the deck of the John Deere 54 inch mower, and it surrounds 4 separate pulleys (3, 9) as can be seen from the diagram provided above. The flat belt helps the actual blades of the mower to spin using the power of the engine. The most essential part of the John Deere 54 inch mower is the Flat Belt (1). Below is a diagram of the deck belt for a John Deere 54-inch mower: Fig 1 – Diagram of a John Deere 54 Inch Mower Deck ( Source) 1.
